The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) began its 2025–26 placement season with a historic milestone, securing 672 job offers on Day 1—the highest Day-1 tally in the institute’s history. The spectacular start marks a 16% jump compared to last year, reflecting the institute’s rising industry stature and the robust demand for IITK graduates. With several results still awaited, the final number is expected to climb even higher.
By the end of the first day, 627 students had already received job offers, including Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs), signalling a substantial 20% increase over the previous placement season. PPOs contributed significantly to this surge, with 253 offers recorded, representing an impressive 27% growth compared to last year.
IIT Kanpur also continued to strengthen its global presence, with nine students bagging international job offers, underscoring the institute’s expanding global footprint.
This year, more than 250 companies registered to recruit from IIT Kanpur, reaffirming its position as one of India’s premier talent destinations. Leading global and Indian recruiters participating in the drive included Accenture, BlackRock, HSBC, SAP, Airbus, PwC, Navi, Qualcomm, Deutsche Bank, among others, covering a wide spectrum of engineering and technology domains.
The Students’ Placement Office, along with the institute’s leadership, congratulated all selected students and expressed gratitude to the recruiting partners. They highlighted that the record-setting Day 1 performance is a testament to the students’ hard work, the faculty’s mentorship, and the industry’s continued trust in IIT Kanpur.
With many more companies scheduled to visit and numerous students yet to be placed, the 2025–26 placement season is poised to deliver even more promising opportunities in the coming weeks.
