The Delhi government has announced that it will conduct the 'Parakh Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024' on December 4, 2024. This survey will involve students from Classes 3, 6, and 9 in selected government and private schools across the city. Parakh Rashtriya Sarvekshan is a nationwide initiative designed to assess India's progress in education in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The survey will cover a range of schools, including government, government-aided, Central, and private institutions. The Directorate of Education (DoE) has issued guidelines to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of the survey in these schools.
Survey Guidelines for Schools
According to the circular issued by the DoE, all selected schools must remain open on December 4, with no other activities scheduled for the day. Evening schools that are part of the sample must ensure that all students from the selected grades, along with their teachers and school heads, are present during the morning shift.
Teachers of the selected students will need to complete a teacher questionnaire, while the school head must fill out a separate school questionnaire. A team consisting of an observer and a field investigator will arrive at the schools before the morning assembly to oversee the process.
Requirements for the Survey
The DoE has specified that schools should provide a large, well-lit room on the ground floor with adequate seating for 30 students. The room must also have proper ventilation, sanitation, and drinking water facilities. The attendance register for the selected class must be available for the field investigator to check, and schools must provide all necessary support and resources to ensure the survey runs smoothly.
Schools are required to use blue or black ballpoint pens for the survey. Materials such as OMR sheets and question booklets must be returned to the observer and field investigator after the assessment.
Special Arrangements for Children with Special Needs
For schools that have children with special needs, additional support will be provided. These students will be allowed an extra 30 minutes to complete the test, and a scribe will be made available if required. The scribe will assist the students for the entire duration of the assessment.
The Parakh Rashtriya Sarvekshan is a mandatory national-level study with district-level reporting. It is important to note that there will be no individual rankings or comparisons between schools, as the survey is aimed at understanding educational progress and not at evaluating school performance.
