Bengaluru has been witnessing heavy downpours for the past three days. Thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds has hit several regions, causing severe waterlogging, property damage, and traffic jams. Areas like Silk Board Junction, Hosur Road, and BTM Layout were among the worst affected, with roads submerged and vehicles stranded.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued an orange alert for the capital city of Karnataka following days of heavy rainfall. The alert warns of continued heavy to very heavy rain over the next two days. According to a report by Deccan Herald, if the rains continue at this pace, May 2025 could become the wettest May in Bengaluru’s recorded history, possibly beating the previous record of 30.5 cm set in May 2023.
