A convoy of over a dozen black luxury cars, including Mahindra Scorpios and Kia Seltos models, brought traffic to a standstill on the Gurugram-Delhi Expressway on Sunday, with passengers dancing on rooftops and flouting traffic rules in a brazen display of reckless driving.
The incident, captured in a now viral video, has triggered a police investigation amid growing public frustration over such repeated violations.
The footage, widely shared on social media, shows a man perched atop a moving SUV, grooving to blaring Punjabi and Haryanvi music while a national flag flutters on the bonnet. Nearby, occupants of other vehicles lean out of sunroofs, filming the spectacle as the convoy speeds dangerously along the busy expressway.
According to NDTV, one individual, believed to be a Haryanvi actor, was seen smiling and posing for the camera while standing on the car seat with the sunroof open.
Eyewitnesses reported that the drivers not only blocked lanes but also ignored basic traffic norms, forcing other commuters to swerve out of their way.
The Gurugram Police have now begun reviewing CCTV footage to identify the vehicles and suspects involved.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred in Gurugram.
Earlier this month, a similar convoy of nearly two dozen luxury cars, including a Mercedes-Benz convertible, blocked a key intersection in Sector 108 near residential complexes like Shobha City and Experion Heartsong.
NDTV reported that the group allegedly used illegal sirens and halted traffic for over seven minutes to shoot social media content, drawing sharp criticism from residents.
Despite previous police cases, these stunts continue unabated, raising questions about enforcement.
While, authorities have assured action, commuters and locals remain sceptical, given the recurring nature of these violations.
