The Greater Noida police, on Sunday afternoon, shot and injured Vipin Bhati, the prime accused in the murder of his wife, Nikki.
According to officials, Bhati, the prime accused of burning his wife to death on Thursday over a Rs 36-lakh dowry demand, was trying to escape from police custody, following which he was shot in his leg. Later, Bhati was brought to the hospital for treatment.
On Sunday, in an interview with NDTV, Nikki's father, Bhikari Singh Payla, has demanded that the accused be shot dead in an encounter and their house be razed as punishment for the murder of his daughter.
Demanding punishment for his daughter’s killers, Payla told NDTV, “They are killers, they should be shot, their home razed. My daughter was bringing up her son by running a parlour. They tortured her. The whole family was involved in the conspiracy, and they killed my daughter."
He also alleged that the accused was in a relationship with someone else and wanted his daughter out of the way. Nikki's father was quoted as saying that his daughter did not want him to worry about her and she tried her best to make the marriage work.
He further urged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath that the accused should be killed in an encounter.
“They shoot pickpockets in the leg, and they won’t kill these murderers? This is a BJP government," he told NDTV.
The father said despite meeting all demands from Nikki’s in-laws, they still killed his daughter.
“First, they demanded a Scorpio in dowry, which was given. Later, they asked for a Bullet motorcycle, and that too was provided. Yet, they kept torturing my daughter," he told India Today TV.
According to the report, the father had recently purchased a Mercedes, which was the latest to catch Vipin’s greedy eye, and he had been demanding it also.
Nikki was attacked by her husband and in-laws in Greater Noida. They dragged her by the hair and set her on fire in front of her young son and her sister, who is also married into the same family. A case has been filed against four family members — Nikki’s husband, her mother-in-law, her father-in-law, and her sister’s husband.
