The Election Commission of India (ECI) will publish the integrated draft electoral roll for Tamil Nadu on December 19, the culmination of a state-wide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The release provides the foundational voter list ahead of future elections, opening a crucial period for public verification and claims.

Upon publication, detailed lists — including categories such as deceased, untraceable, permanently shifted and already enrolled individuals — will be accessible via the websites of respective District Election Officers. The state’s Chief Electoral Officer, Archana Patnaik, is scheduled to hold a press conference in Chennai on Friday afternoon to detail the process, according to the official release.

The Commission has emphasised that the general public should actively access these online portals to verify their inclusion and the accuracy of details. This public scrutiny phase is a standard but vital step to ensure the integrity and comprehensiveness of the electoral roll.

The SIR drive, which preceded this draft publication, was a systematic effort by the ECI to update and purify the voter list across all constituencies in Tamil Nadu. The integrated draft represents the Commission’s current baseline assessment of voter eligibility in the state.
