Tata Motors is set to launch the Tata Sierra 2025 today, adding a brand-new model to its growing SUV line-up. The Tata Sierra launch places the iconic nameplate back into the market, joining the Punch, Nexon, Curvv, Harrier and Safari in the company's portfolio.
The Tata Sierra 2025 enters the mid-size SUV segment, currently led by the Hyundai Creta. It will also compete with the Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Mahindra Thar Roxx, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and MG Astor. Tata's own Curvv is also present in this segment.
Tata has pitched the Sierra as a feature-loaded SUV with multiple engine choices. The model was fully revealed on November 15. The Tata Sierra 2025 price in India could start around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to nearly Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top variants. These estimates also offer a broad view of where the Tata Sierra price in India will be positioned against rivals.
Design updates include a modern reinterpretation of the classic Sierra's three-quarter glass area. The new Tata Sierra 2025 features a panoramic roof, flush glass panels and a contrasting black roof band that maintains the well-lit cabin feel of the original while adapting to modern aerodynamic and safety demands. Full-LED lighting is standard. A Light Saber-style full-width LED DRL shapes the front, while a sleek LED bar completes the rear. The SUV also comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, flush door handles, black cladding, a clamshell tailgate and a floating-roof design.
Inside, the Sierra uses Tata's Theatre Pro three-screen layout, including Horizon View displays for both driver and passenger. This works with the Sonic Shaft soundbar and a 12-speaker JBL audio system with Dolby Atmos. The Panora Max sunroof and extensive glazing aim to recreate the signature airy feel associated with the original Sierra. Natural cabin tones, minimal metallic accents and ambient lighting round out the interior theme.
Feature highlights include LED lamps at both ends, a piano black grille and an electric tailgate. Six colours will be offered -- Bengal Rouge, Coorg Clouds, Munnar Mist, Pristine White, Pure Grey and Andaman Adventure. The dashboard uses soft-touch materials, while the door pads get firmer plastics. Ventilated front seats, electric adjustment for both front occupants and three memory presets for the driver are part of the equipment list. Wireless charging, floating armrests, a floating centre console and an auto-dimming IRVM are also included.
Several interior elements, including the steering wheel and HVAC controls, will feel familiar to buyers of Tata's larger SUVs. An electronic parking brake with auto hold, adjustable thigh support for the front seats, and a flat rear floor add to overall practicality. Rear passengers get generous headroom and legroom.
Engine options are expected to include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre Hyperion direct-injection turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. Manual and automatic transmissions are likely, along with multiple terrain and drive modes. Boot space is expected to be close to 500 litres, though this figure is yet to be officially confirmed.
The Tata Sierra 2025 will first go on sale with internal combustion engines. An electric version of the Sierra is planned for an official launch early next year.
