Mahindra & Mahindra today launched the 2025 Mahindra Thar facelift (3-door) at a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh. The top-spec variant is now available for Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). If you compare this with the outgoing model, it was priced from Rs 10.32 lakh to Rs 16.61 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model comes with a host of technical upgrades, feature additions and fresh colour options, enhancing the overall appeal of India's most popular off-roader.
The 2025 Thar facelift has three engine options -- 1.5-litre mHawk CRDe diesel, 2.2-litre mHawk CRDe diesel and 2.0-litre mStallion 150 TGDi petrol. The 1.5-litre diesel unit is good for 117hp of maximum power and 300Nm of peak torque, while the 2.2-litre diesel mill develops 130hp of maximum power and 300Nm of peak torque. The 2.0-litre petrol engine produces 150hp of maximum power, while the peak torque is rated at 300Nm with a manual transmission and 320Nm with an automatic transmission. The SUV comes with 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT torque converter options, with a dead pedal included in the AT version.
Mahindra has simplified the Thar line-up into two trims, AXT and LXT, spread across rear-wheel drive (RWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) configurations. Below are the variant-wise 2025 Mahindra Thar facelift prices (ex-showroom).

The 4WD variants have an electric driveline disconnect on the front axle, while RWD variants are equipped with an electronic brake locking differential.
The new Thar facelift retains its off-road credentials with a 41.8-degree approach angle, 36-degree departure angle, 27-degree ramp-over angle, and a 650mm water wading capacity. Hill hold and hill descent control are standard, alongside the electronic stability program (ESP) with rollover mitigation.
In profile, the facelifted model looks, more or less, similar to the pre-facelift version. While the grille has been tweaked a bit, the round headlamps with LED DRLs remain. The higher LXT variants add 18-inch alloy wheels (16-inch steel wheels for AXT variants), dual-tone bumpers, fog lamps with DRLs, and moulded side foot steps. A big relief comes in the form of an internally operated fuel lid. The addition of a rear wiper and washer is a welcome step as well.
The new Thar 2025 now comes with a redesigned dashboard and steering wheel, rear AC vents, one-touch power windows, a sliding armrest console, and an A-pillar entry assist handle. On the technology front, the SUV gets a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system (from the Thar Roxx) with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Adventure Statistics Gen II, cruise control, rear view camera, Tyretronics TPMS, and tyre direction monitoring system.
Safety equipment includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, rear parking sensors, a built-in roll cage and three-point seat belts.

As for colour options, there are six in total -- Galaxy Grey, Stealth Black, Battleship Grey, Tango Red, Deep Forest, and Everest White. Battleship Grey and Tango Red are new additions to the 2025 Thar facelift range from Mahindra.
In GST 2.0, Mahindra reduced the price of the old Thar by up to Rs 1.35 lakh. The company was also offering an additional benefit of Rs 20,000 on the SUV.
