Chaitra Navratri marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year in many parts of India and is celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm. In 2025, Chaitra Navratri will be observed from March 30 to April 7, ending with Ram Navami, the divine birth anniversary of Lord Rama. This sacred period is dedicated to worshipping the nine forms of Goddess Durga and is considered an ideal time for spiritual growth and positive transformation.
As per Vedic astrology, the planetary alignments during Navratri are believed to enhance the energy of devotion and purity. Performing key rituals during this time can align one’s inner self with cosmic energies and invite divine blessings.
Here are three auspicious rituals that one must perform during Chaitra Navratri, as per Vedic astrology:
1. Ghatasthapana: Invoking Goddess Durga at the Right Muhurat
The festival begins with Ghatasthapana, the installation of a sacred Kalash (pot), which represents the presence of the Goddess.
Steps to Perform Ghatasthapana:
- Use a copper or earthen pot filled with Gangajal (holy water).
- Place mango leaves and a coconut on top of the Kalash.
- Position the Kalash in the northeast or east direction of your home or altar.
- Sow barley seeds beside the pot to symbolise growth, prosperity, and abundance.
According to astrology, performing this ritual during the correct Muhurat helps align one’s aura with supportive planetary energies, particularly those related to health, wealth, and protection.
2. Daily Mantra Chanting for Planetary Balance
Each day of Navratri is dedicated to one of the nine forms of Maa Durga, and each Goddess is associated with a ruling planet. Chanting the appropriate Beej Mantras helps to balance these planetary influences and brings emotional and spiritual harmony.

3. Kanya Puja on Ashtami or Navami
The sacred ritual of Kanya Puja is performed by honouring young girls (ages 2 to 10) as embodiments of the Goddess. This is usually done on Ashtami (April 6) or Navami (April 7).
Ritual Guidelines:
- Wash the girls’ feet and offer them red flowers, saffron, sweets, and traditional food.
- Gift yellow or red clothes, which is said to enhance the blessings of Jupiter and Mars.
- Seek their blessings after performing the puja.
As per Vedic astrology, Kanya Puja helps eliminate negative karmic influences and brings abundance, happiness, and success.
By observing these three key rituals—Ghatasthapana, mantra chanting, and Kanya Puja—devotees can fully harness the sacred energy of Chaitra Navratri 2025. It’s a time to purify the mind, connect with divine energies, and invite spiritual and material prosperity into life.
