Indic Arena, run independently by the AI4Bharat research centre at IIT Madras, will allow users to anonymously evaluate and rank AI models based on how they perform across Indian languages and culturally specific tasks. Google Cloud is providing cloud credits to power the platform.

The expanded local compute will run on Google's AI Hypercomputer architecture with the latest Trillium TPUs, enabling customers to train and serve Gemini models in India while meeting data residency and digital sovereignty requirements.
