At least one person was killed after a small plane crashed into a home in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, on Saturday afternoon, setting the house on fire, according to a report by CNN.
The residents of the home were not hurt, Brooklyn Park spokesperson Risikat Adesaogun said. But the house was destroyed, AP reported.
Video footage from the scene shows the home fully engulfed in flames. A Ring camera from a nearby house also captured the moment the plane appears to fall out of the sky before it is heard crashing into a neighborhood.
In a statement on X, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said: “My team is in touch with local officials on the scene in Brooklyn Park and we are monitoring the situation closely. Grateful to the first responders answering the call.”
The plane was travelling from Iowa to Minnesota. However, it was not yet known how many people were aboard the single-engine SOCATA TBM7, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.
The agency said the aircraft departed from the Des Moines International Airport with a destination of the Anoka County-Blaine Airport, located in another Minneapolis suburb.
The National Transportation Safety Board is carrying out an investigation.
