Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti was seen visibly emotional and broke down on camera after a wave of coordinated attacks by the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) across 12 cities in the province, which left several military and police personnel dead.
Following the coordinated assaults by Baloch fighters — which reportedly killed at least 70 militants and 10 security personnel — a video circulated widely on social media showing Bugti speaking to police officials in Quetta. In the footage, the chief minister appears to choke up while pledging retaliation for the violence.
“We will take revenge for every drop of blood,” Bugti is heard saying in the video.
The attacks, described as the deadliest single-day assault in decades, began on Friday night and stretched into Saturday. Militants targeted security forces, police facilities and civilians at multiple locations, triggering counter-operations by the army and law enforcement agencies.
While security forces said more than 100 militants were killed in the operations, Bugti said in a post on X that 70 terrorists had been killed so far and that the operations were continuing.
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind said attacks were reported from several areas, including Quetta, Gwadar, Makran, Hub, Chaman, Naseerabad and Nushki.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Army’s media wing, said security forces had successfully thwarted attempts by militants to seize control of any city or strategic installation, adding that the situation was now fully under control.
Meanwhile, the BLA said the second phase of “Operation Herof” had been launched across Balochistan, calling it a declaration of decisive resistance against the state and its military and administrative structures. The group claimed the Baloch nation would defeat its enemy in every city, street and neighbourhood.
