Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister, Uzma Khanum, has been granted permission to meet him inside Adiala Jail, days after false rumours about his death sparked widespread unrest, CNN News18 reported, citing sources.
According to top Pakistan establishment sources, Uzma Khan is being allowed because she is a medical doctor. This comes amid heightened international scrutiny and national security concerns surrounding Imran Khan’s “custodial secrecy”.
Authorities are increasingly considering the rising human rights queries and significant global attention over Khan’s detention in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, the sources said.
Top Indian intelligence sources indicated that Islamabad is attempting to project a “selective humanitarian gesture”, particularly ahead of anticipated parliamentary decisions.
The meeting comes at a time when Khan’s supporters from the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) party had threatened to organise mass protests.

Previously, sources close to Imran Khan told CNN-News18 that the Adiala Jail authorities would allow Imran’s sister, Uzma, and a vetted lawyer to meet the former premier under a strict gag order prohibiting discussions on social media.
This comes after false rumours of Imran Khan’s death in jail went viral.
Pakistan is reportedly concerned that any information about Khan’s physical or psychological condition could trigger mass mobilisation, similar to the unrest following his arrest on May 9, 2023, the sources added.
