Shimla and other hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh witnessed fresh snowfall on Monday night and Tuesday morning, bringing a renewed winter charm to the state. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier issued an orange alert for heavy rain and snowfall in several parts of the state, including Shimla, Manali, Chamba, Kangra, and Lahaul-Spiti.

According to the IMD, moderate rain and snowfall are expected to continue on March 4, while dry weather is likely from March 5 to March 8. Authorities have advised tourists and residents to stay updated on weather conditions and avoid unnecessary travel to high-altitude areas prone to roadblocks and avalanches.

Despite the chilly conditions, snowfall has led to a surge in tourist activity in popular spots like Mall Road, Kufri, and Jakhoo Temple, where visitors are enjoying the snow-covered landscapes. Meanwhile, Manali experienced its second major snowfall within a week, intensifying the winter chill.

The heavy snowfall has disrupted normal life in several districts. As per officials, 365 roads, including three national highways, remain blocked, while 1,377 power transformers and 269 water supply schemes have been disrupted. Authorities have deployed snow-clearing machines, and restoration work is currently in progress.
