Imagine using your iPhone’s voice-to-text feature, saying “racist,” and for a split second, it changes to “Trump.” Sounds bizarre, right? Well, for some iPhone users, this actually happened.

A TikTok video showing this weird glitch recently went viral. The video sparked discussions, jokes, and even accusations that Apple did it on purpose. However, Apple soon confirmed the issue, calling it a mistake in their speech recognition system. “We are aware of an issue with the speech recognition model that powers dictation, and we are rolling out a fix as soon as possible,”,” an Apple spokesperson told Fox News.

So what could have caused it? Apple says it’s just a mix-up with similar sounds. Words starting with an “r” sometimes get misheard. This sounds really strange because racist and Trump certainly don’t sound similar. John Burkey, a former Apple engineer who worked on Siri, thinks something else might be at play. Could it have been a prank by someone inside Apple? No one knows for sure.

The timing wasn’t great either. Apple made this announcement just a day after promising to invest over $500 billion in the US, partly to handle trade tariffs introduced by US President Trump.
As expected, social media had a field day. Some people found it hilarious, while others thought Apple was secretly sending a message. Either way, the glitch got people talking—and not just about their iPhones.
