Wipro plans to hire 10,000 to 12,000 people, including on and off campus hires, for the financial year 2025, coming after the IT services major reported two consecutive full fiscal years of headcount decline.
In the first quarter ended June 30, 2024, Wipro onboarded over 3,000 freshers and reported a net quarterly headcount addition of 337, following six straight quarters of headcount decline.
The company also plans to add a similar number of hires in the range of 10,000-12,000 for the next fiscal year (FY26) as well. Wipro is back in the market to hire after a year, Chief HR Officer Saurabh Govil said on July 19, during the company’s Q1 earnings conference.
Govil added that Wipro will be completing onboarding of all of its backlog of offers made in FY25.
“We will also have done our relationships and partnerships with certain institutes. So we will go for hiring on campus and off campus this year. We also plan to hire a similar number next year. Very clearly we are building muscle so that we are there ready as our growth comes back. Our utilisation rate has reached its peak, so this is the right time for us to look at our supply chain,” Govil said.
In Q1, among its peers, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on boarded 11,000 freshers, and LTIMindtree added 1,400 freshers.
In FY25, TCS plans to hire 40,000 freshers, HCLTech is aiming for 10,000 freshers and Infosys will be adding 15,000-20,000 freshers.
Wipro reported Q1 earnings on July 19. Net profit rose 4.6 percent from a year ago to Rs 3,003 crore. The IT company’s April-June consolidated revenue fell 3.8 percent to Rs 21,964 crore.
The company has guided sequential revenue growth in the range of -1 percent to 1 percent in constant currency (CC) terms. This comes after the company slashed the guidance last quarter in the range of -1.5 percent to 0.5 percent.
