A new warning from United States officials has urged iPhone users to stop sending sensitive messages through Apple’s iMessage service for now. This advice comes after security experts found powerful spyware that can break into phones in a way that puts even private, encrypted chats at risk.

The warning does not mean everyone’s iPhone is suddenly unsafe. The issue mainly affects people who could be targets of serious surveillance, such as activists, journalists, political figures or anyone handling private information. But the officials say it is still better for all users to be cautious until more is known.

According to the Forbes report, the spyware involved is not the kind you get from random apps or links. It is advanced software created by professional groups that sell their tools to governments and large organisations. This kind of spyware is built to enter phones quietly without the user realising it. Once inside, it can read messages, including those sent through services like iMessage that are normally protected.

The report says Apple’s system is not broken, but this spyware is so advanced that it can still find ways to get in. Because of this, US officials are asking people to avoid sending important personal or sensitive details through iMessage for the time being. Things like passwords, financial information, private photos or confidential conversations should be shared through other methods that are less likely to be targeted.
