French game developer and publisher Ubisoft, known for franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs, Rainbow Six and Far Cry, has confirmed that it is working on a new Ghost Recon title, as per a report by Game File. The new Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon game would be the first in the series since 2019’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, sequel to the highly successful 2017’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

Speaking on the French publisher’s history with live-service titles during the Q&A session of the annual shareholder meeting in Paris, Ubisoft CEO and president Yves Guillemot reportedly said, "In addition to the flagship game that I just mentioned [Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege], our objective is to also make strong progress in the growing market, generally speaking, by continuing to enhance our current experiences that we offer--and capitalizing on upcoming launches, such as The Division and Ghost Recon."

The new Ghost Recon game will also see some shift gameplay-wise. Ubisoft CFO Frederick Duguet later mentioned that the upcoming Ghost Recon title will be one of the "first-person-shooter-type games" from the game publisher. Until now, several Ghost Recon titles have offered first-person perspective gameplay, but they have been mostly presented as third-person shooters.

Although the two Ubisoft executives have confirmed a new Ghost Recon game, there’s been no mention of a release timeline. Breakpoint wasn’t received well, and the company would want to tread carefully with a live-service FPS Ghost Recon game.
