TCS and C-DAC partner to develop India's sovereign cloud ecosystem for AI-enabled innovations

The research partnership will help develop next-generation technologies for a sovereign cloud ecosystem that will be aligned with India's strategic and digital priorities.

In a significant partnership that can improve India's technological self-reliance, leading IT services major TCS is partnering with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) to help develop a sovereign cloud ecosystem, the company said on September 12, in an effort to create AI-enabled cloud platforms that follow India’s data localization rules.

The MoU with one of India's leading R&D institution is aimed at helping in the digital transformation of critical public sector services. The collaboration with C-DAC, a premier R&D institution under the MeitY, will develop and integrate indigenous innovations into TCS’ sovereign cloud stack.

TCS called it a major step in India’s sovereign cloud ambitions. "...we are combining indigenous R&D, public sector infrastructure, and TCS’ enterprise expertise to deliver secure, scalable, and future-ready cloud platforms tailored to the needs of a digitally empowered India," Girish Ramachandran, President – Growth Markets, TCS said.

The research partnership will help develop next-generation technologies for a sovereign cloud ecosystem that will be aligned with India's strategic and digital priorities. "By bringing together C-DAC’s expertise in indigenous innovation with TCS’ deep industry presence and execution strength, we aim to accelerate the development, deployment, and long-term sustainability of sovereign cloud platforms," Magesh Ethirajan, Director General - CDAC said.
