Sequoia-backed enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) platform Glean Technologies on July 5 launched their first office in India. The Palo Alto-headquartered firm will be the center of operations for India, and will house finance, sales, R&D, and business operations functions.
"This innovation site will play a key role in enabling Glean’s customers to deploy Gen AI assistants and applications at scale globally," the company said in a press release.
Glean is being launched at a time when enterprises and startups are trying to capitalise on the rapidly evolving Gen AI scenario in India.
Glean has so far raised over $350 million from top venture capitals that include General Catalyst, Kleiner Perkins, and Lightspeed, apart from Sequoia Capital. The company is currently valued at over $2.2 billion, with an Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) rate of 300 percent year-on-year.
Glean helps companies build custom generative AI (Gen AI) apps and agents securely at scale, with over 100 companies, having created and deployed more than 1,000 AI apps and agents. So far, enterprises looking at Gen AI solutions to meet their stringent security, data governance, and permissions requirements have been their clients.
Speaking to media after the launch, the company's founder and Chief Executive Officer Arvind Jain said Glean has worked with a leading US-based telecom major, assisting its employees to solve enterprise-grade problems.
“This specific telco… allowed them to reduce their future hiring projections and that’s one of the biggest impacts we have seen,” Jain said.
The entrepreneur, who previously worked as an engineer at Google and Microsoft, mentioned that Glean employs a Small Language Model (SLM) to train an enterprise’s model, either by hosting it on the company’s cloud servers or on the enterprise's cloud.
The company subsequently utilizes hyperscaler services, predominantly Google Cloud, to respond to queries.
When asked about the massive cost of query for Gen AI models, Jain said it will reduce over time. “It will no longer be an issue for any important use-case that a business may have,” Jain told Moneycontrol.
