Samsung has announced an update to its web browser, introducing new artificial intelligence features powered by Perplexity along with agentic capabilities aimed at simplifying everyday browsing tasks. The update extends Samsung Browser beyond mobile devices to Windows PCs, focusing on cross-device continuity and contextual intelligence.
The updated Samsung Browser is designed to understand user intent through natural language and page context. The integration with Perplexity enables the browser to process queries, analyse on-screen content, and assist users without requiring them to switch between tabs or applications. Samsung says the goal is to make browsing more task-oriented rather than search-driven.
AI features gets Perplexity backing
The new AI assistant can interpret the content of the webpage currently in view and provide structured responses. For instance, users planning a trip can ask the browser to generate an itinerary based on open pages. The assistant can also summarise information across multiple tabs, allowing users to compare data without manually navigating each page.
Another feature includes natural language-based browsing history search. Instead of relying on keywords or dates, users can describe what they are looking for, and the browser retrieves relevant pages from past activity.
Samsung has also introduced video context understanding. The browser can identify specific moments within a video and jump directly to relevant segments based on user queries. This reduces the need to manually scrub through video timelines.
Cross-device experience
The update brings Samsung Browser to Windows, enabling continuity between mobile and PC. Users can resume browsing sessions across devices, including open tabs and webpages. Integration with Samsung Pass allows autofill of login credentials and personal information across platforms.
Availability
Samsung Browser for Windows is available on devices running Windows 10 (version 1809 and above) and Windows 11. The AI-powered features are currently supported in select regions, including South Korea and the United States, with plans for expansion to additional markets.
