PM Modi calls for open-source AI systems, unbiased datasets at Paris AI Summit

Modi added that the issue of energy-guzzling AI needs to be looked into, and will require green power to fuel its future.

Countries should build open-source artificial intelligence (AI) systems with unbiased datasets, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at the AI Action Summit in Paris on February 11.

“We must develop open-source systems that enhance trust and transparency. We must build quality data sets free from biases. We must democratize technology and create people-centric applications,” Modi addressed a gathering that is being co-chaired by India.

This Summit follows the UK's AI Safety Summit in 2023 and South Korea’s AI Seoul Summit in 2024, reinforcing India's commitment to shaping global AI governance.

India is co-chairing the AI Governance theme alongside France and Canada.
