At Rs 3,999, the OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro tries to bring together most features that users now expect from wireless earbuds—active noise cancellation, app support, dual-device connectivity, and even gaming-focused modes. And, topping these, there’s LHDC 5.0 support as well. On paper, it feels like a complete package. But after spending time with them, the experience comes down to how these features come together rather than how many are included. Here’s my final review of the Nord Buds 4 Pro.
Design and comfort
The Nord Buds 4 Pro are easy to get used to. They sit securely in the ear, and the lightweight design makes them comfortable enough for long listening sessions. It carries the stem-design which has become a standard in the TWS space these days. The fit and finish is good and feels solid too. During regular use—whether walking around or working at a desk—they stay in place without needing constant adjustment. OnePlus also includes multiple ear tips that lets users choose the right fit for themselves.
Coming to the charging case, it has that slightly oval shape to it and it does feel a little slippery in hands. However, the build is solid and feels premium too. Also, the size is a little on the bigger side, which may make it slightly less convenient for smaller pockets. Visually, the design remains understated. There is nothing here that draws attention, and that seems to be the intent—keep it functional and familiar rather than experimental.
Sound quality and the app controls
Now, let’s talk about the real deal – the audio quality. Listening to the Nord Buds 4 Pro over a few days reveals a tuning that leans towards impact rather than balance. The bass has a presence, and it is the first thing you notice. For casual listening or streaming music, this works well enough, especially with bass-heavy tracks.
I tried listening to multiple tracks from different genres and for most part of it, the bass-forward nature is quite noticeable, which will appeal to listeners who enjoy that kind of sound. Those who prefer a more balanced output may notice it more during longer listening sessions. Vocals are just fine, nothing outstanding and highs remain controlled without getting overwhelming. A slightly more pronounced treble could have added more detail here.
However, the TWS earbuds are compatible with the Hey Melody app and that allows users to fine tune the audio settings with custom equaliser within the Sound Master EQ. Users also have the OnePlus 3D Audio option within the app.
The HeyMelody app adds useful controls, including ANC adjustments, equaliser settings, and gaming mode toggles. It gives a sense of control over how the earbuds behave. Touch controls, however, can occasionally require a bit more precision, which may interrupt the flow when adjusting playback quickly.
Calling performance
Although, OnePlus has put up big claims in terms of microphones included on the Nord Buds 4 Pro. Calls are usable in most situations. People on the other end of the call hear you clearly in most cases, which makes outgoing audio dependable.
On your side, voices sound a bit flatter in comparison. In outdoor conditions, especially with wind, the microphones may pick up some surrounding noise, which can slightly affect clarity during longer calls.
Active noise cancellation (ANC)
ANC is present, but its effectiveness depends on where you are using it. In quieter environments, it takes the edge off low-level background noise and helps create a more focused listening experience. The app – again – offers the option to toggle it on and off along with manual adjustment options. And, then there’s the transparent mode which does a decent job.
Move into a busier setting, and the limitations become more noticeable. Conversations, movement, and sudden sounds can still be heard to some extent, even with music playing. It does not completely isolate you; instead, it reduces a portion of the surrounding noise.
There is a clear difference between standard use and gaming mode. In regular mode, latency is noticeable enough to affect video and gameplay sync slightly. Switching to the low-latency mode improves things immediately, making it more suitable for gaming, though with a slight trade-off in audio quality.
Spatial audio adds another layer, especially in supported titles. It does not transform the experience entirely, but it does help with directional cues, which can make a difference in certain scenarios like watching movies or even listening to songs with a wider sound stage, but it is not the best I’ve experienced in this price segment.
Connectivity and controls
This is where the Nord Buds 4 Pro feels more dependable. Bluetooth 6.0 makes it an easy affair to pair and keep the connection intact in busy situations like gym where the interference is a lot more than usual. Also, it supports quick pairing and also Windows Swift Pair which adds to the convenience – especially for someone who wants to connect two devices at the same time.
The touch controls are present on both the earbuds and while they may take a bit of getting used to, they are customisable and can be fine tuned as per your needs.
Battery life
Battery life is predictable and steady. Claims are 54 hours and with ANC enabled, the earbuds last around six hours on a single charge. With the case, they can stretch across a few days of moderate use without needing frequent top-ups.
Fast charging is practical here. A short charge is enough to get several hours of playback, which fits well into daily routines. Wireless charging is not available, but at this price, it does not feel like a major omission.
Verdict
The OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro are built around the idea of covering all the essentials rather than excelling in one area. They are comfortable to wear, easy to use, and come with features that add flexibility to everyday use.
At the same time, the sound leans towards a particular tuning style, ANC works better in controlled environments, and call quality can vary slightly depending on surroundings. The design stays in the background, doing its job without trying to stand out.
They make sense for someone who wants a straightforward pair of earbuds for music, calls, and occasional gaming without spending more. But if sound quality or noise cancellation is a priority, there are aspects here that may not fully meet those expectations.
