OnePlus is gearing up to launch the OnePlus 15 in China later this month, and the spotlight is on its display. The company has been teasing the phone on social media, revealing that it could be the first smartphone in the world to feature BOE’s next-generation Oriental Screen.

So, what makes this display special? The 6.78-inch BOE X3 OLED panel is expected to combine a 1.5K resolution with a 165Hz refresh rate,  a first for any phone. While some devices have offered high refresh rates or sharp screens, none have paired both together like this. For comparison, the ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro had a 165Hz refresh rate but at a lower FHD resolution, while other flagship phones offered higher resolution but capped the refresh rate at 120Hz.

The OnePlus 15’s display aims to balance smoothness and clarity, making it appealing for gamers and those who scroll, watch videos, or play high-frame-rate games. This is a step up from the OnePlus 13, which featured a second-generation BOE screen with a dynamic 1–120Hz refresh rate and QHD+ resolution.

The new panel also promises to be easy on the eyes. It is expected to achieve hardware-level 1-nit brightness, allowing comfortable reading in very dark rooms, and comes with TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care 5.0 certification. This includes features like reduced blue light, flicker-free brightness, and adaptive lighting for different environments. DisplayMate is also expected to give the screen an A++ rating, keeping it on par with the OnePlus 13.
