Meta has announced a new software update for its AI-powered smart glasses, adding noise filtration and Spotify integration. The update, rolled out as part of version 21, focuses on improving voice clarity in noisy environments and expanding audio-based experiences through music streaming. The new features are available to eligible users of Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN AI glasses.

Noise filtration and conversation focus
One of the key additions in the update is a conversation focus feature designed to amplify a speaker’s voice in loud surroundings. The setting uses the glasses’ open-ear speaker system to raise the volume of the person speaking above background noise. According to Meta, this feature is aimed at improving real-world conversations in places such as streets, cafés, or public transport.
The conversation focus feature is currently available to users enrolled in Meta’s Early Access Program. At present, the rollout is limited to customers in the U.S. and Canada using supported Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN models. Meta has not shared a timeline for wider availability in other regions.

Spotify integration explained
The update also brings Spotify integration to Meta AI glasses, marking the company’s first multimodal AI-powered music experience on the platform. Users can ask Meta AI to play music directly from Spotify using voice commands. A notable feature allows wearers to say, “Hey Meta, play a song to match this view,” while looking at their surroundings, prompting the AI to generate a context-based playlist.
Meta confirmed that the Spotify feature currently supports English voice commands and is available in several countries, including India, the U.S., the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and the UAE, among others.

Language support and availability
Alongside the new audio features, Meta has expanded language support on its AI glasses. The company has started rolling out Telugu and Kannada language support to increase access to Meta AI for users in India. This move aligns with Meta’s broader focus on localisation and regional language inclusion.
Meta has advised users interested in early access to upcoming features to join its Early Access Program, as future updates are expected to be released gradually through software upgrades.
