Karnataka IT-BT minister Priyank Kharge on August 7 welcomed quick commerce startup Zepto to Bengaluru, saying the city has the best startup ecosystem in India.
Moneycontrol on August 6 carried a report on Zepto's decision to move its base from Powai in Mumbai to Sarjapur in Bengaluru.

"Unicorn quick commerce startup @ZeptoNow is relocating from Mumbai to Bengaluru. This move emphasises Bengaluru’s status as India’s tech capital and a premier destination for startups," Kharge wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
"I invite more startups to join us and flourish in the best startup ecosystem in India," Kharge wrote.

"Our city is also the most millennial-friendly in India for education and employment, ranking 18th in the Asia Pacific. With 3,600+ funded tech startups and the highest number of employable female talent, Bengaluru is where innovation thrives," Kharge wrote.
"Bengaluru offers an unparalleled startup ecosystem, boasting $70.1 billion raised by startups since 2010, with $15.1 billion raised this year alone. Leading in B2B funding at $34.9 billion and B2C funding at $4.9 billion. Home to 45 unicorns valued at $160.8 billion," Kharge wrote.
Karnataka IT-BT secretary Ekroop Caur posted on X:, “Glad to welcome @ZeptoNow to B’luru - the innovation and startup capital.”
Quoting Moneycontrol article, Karnataka IT-BT department wrote on X: "Bengaluru pulls another unicorn! @ZeptoNow moves HQ from Mumbai to Bengaluru, saving big on rent and tapping into our tech talent. Welcome @ZeptoNow to India's Silicon Valley, where innovation meets affordability!”.
The company already has an office in Bengaluru but wants to move all corporate roles into a bigger space and consolidate operations from across cities. The three-year-old company, which has its business verticals in Mumbai and tech and product teams in Bengaluru, will bring all its 1,700-1,800 employees under one roof. Zepto has two major offices in India. A 80,000-90,000 square feet property in Mumbai and a smaller 30,000-40,000 square feet space in Bengaluru. It will give up both these buildings and move into a larger, 1.5 lakh square-feet property in Bengaluru.
