We’ve all been there, you’re scrolling through Instagram, stumble upon a funny or inspiring Reel, and later realise it’s vanished into the endless feed abyss. No amount of searching helps, and you’re left wondering if you imagined it. Well, Instagram is finally fixing that.
Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, announced on Threads that the app is rolling out a new Watch History section for Reels. Think of it like YouTube’s watch history, but for your endless scroll. It’ll show every Reel you’ve watched on your account, so you can easily go back and find that one you missed saving.
The new section will also come with handy filters. You’ll be able to sort your watched Reels by date — oldest to newest or vice versa — and even look up videos from a specific day or week. If you remember the creator’s handle but not the exact video, you can filter by account too.
To find your Watch History, head to your profile tab, tap the three-line menu in the top right corner, then go to Settings → Your activity → Watch history.
The feature has already started showing up for some users — it’s live on the latest version of the app, including on devices like the Pixel 10 Pro — so it’s safe to say the rollout has begun.
Until now, users had to rely on workarounds like liking Reels or sending them to themselves just to keep track of them. The new Watch History makes that unnecessary and brings some much-needed sanity to Instagram’s video chaos.
Sure, if you binge-watch hundreds of Reels a day, scrolling back through them all might still be a bit of a mission. But for most people, this update is long overdue. Finally, that perfect travel hack or adorable puppy video won’t be lost to the algorithm forever.
