India’s PC market sees solid growth as Notebooks and AI laptops take the lead

In the first three months of 2025, India shipped 3.3 million desktop computers, laptops, and workstations, according to research firm IDC. That’s an 8.1% jump compared to the same time last year.

If you’ve noticed more people shopping for laptops lately, you’re not wrong. India’s PC market is growing, and it’s not just a small bump, it’s been rising steadily for seven straight quarters now.

In the first three months of 2025, India shipped 3.3 million desktop computers, laptops, and workstations, according to research firm IDC. That’s an 8.1% jump compared to the same time last year.

So, what’s fueling this growth? The biggest boost came from laptops. People bought a lot more of them, 13.8% more, to be exact. And while desktops saw a slight dip, AI-powered laptops- the laptops with built-in artificial intelligence features shot up by a massive 185%. They’re still new and not common yet, but the interest is clearly growing.

There are a few reasons behind the rush. First, Republic Day sales gave shoppers plenty of deals. On top of that, big online retailers pushed out lots of stock in March. More people are also buying computers online, those sales went up almost 22%.
