Honor has taken a pointed jab at Samsung, zeroing in on a single metric: thickness. In a cheeky new teaser, the Chinese brand contrasted its upcoming Magic V3 foldable with Samsung’s newly launched Galaxy S25 Edge, branding its rival’s slim design as more style than substance.
Samsung recently unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, its thinnest smartphone to date, measuring just 5.8mm. Marketed as “beyond slim,” the phone doesn’t skimp on firepower—it features a 200MP camera, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and a compact 3900mAh battery, all within that slender frame.
Honor, however, wasn’t having it.
In its teaser, Honor claims the Magic V3 unfolds to just 4.35mm in thickness—significantly slimmer than Samsung’s device. The accompanying tagline? “THIN without the catch.” The message is clear: thinner doesn’t have to mean compromised, a not-so-subtle dig at Samsung’s design priorities.
Backing its claim, Honor touts a larger 5150mAh battery in the Magic V3, suggesting its engineering doesn’t sacrifice practicality for sleekness. While camera details were left vague, the implication was that performance remains competitive.
That said, comparisons between these two phones aren’t entirely apples-to-apples. The Galaxy S25 Edge is a conventional slab-style phone; the Magic V3 is a foldable, and its thinness is measured when unfolded. Thickness metrics vary depending on design choices, and real-world durability and usability often matter more than spec-sheet wins.
