Google’s new account switcher rolls out to more apps: Here’s what’s changing

Switching between multiple Google accounts on your phone just got less frustrating. Google is rolling out a redesigned account switcher across more of its apps, aiming to reduce the number of taps it takes to jump between profiles—something users with several Google accounts have long grumbled about.

According to a report by Android Authority, the sleeker interface is now live in Google Translate (version 9.9.58), Wallet (version 25.20), and Tasks (version 2025.05.19), bringing a consistent design that mirrors what users see on desktop. This update follows earlier sightings in Google Maps and signs of it brewing in Calendar and Keep, as revealed in recent APK teardowns.

Previously, switching accounts in many Google apps meant a multi-step process: tap your profile, dig into “Manage your Google Account,” and only then get access to your list of profiles. The new design cuts that down dramatically. You’ll still see your primary profile photo at the top, but now there’s a clean “Switch account” dropdown. A single tap reveals your other linked accounts, the option to add a new one, and settings to manage devices.

It’s a small UX update, but a meaningful one—especially for those juggling work, personal, and side-project accounts. While not every Google app has this yet, the rollout seems to be picking up pace, so more updates are likely imminent.
