Unified gamer profile with AI avatars
One of the biggest changes is the introduction of a platform-level gamer profile. Until now, stats and achievements were scattered across devices and individual games, making it hard for players to track progress. With the new system, gamers can monitor achievements across all supported titles in one place. To add a personal touch, Google is also offering AI-generated avatars that let players express their unique identity in the Play Games ecosystem. Rewards expanded across games and events
Google Play is extending Play Points rewards to cover both mobile and PC gaming. This integration will allow users to earn points not just from gameplay but also through engagement with events, merchandise, and VIP experiences at venues such as Comic Con San Diego. To further boost competition, Google is introducing Play Games Leagues. These leagues will let players challenge others globally, climb leaderboards, and unlock rewards. The first league begins on October 10 with Subway Surfers and runs until October 23.
Play Games Sidekick for real-time coaching
Google is also introducing Play Games Sidekick, an AI-powered in-game overlay that provides live support. Instead of pausing the game or searching online tutorials, players can directly ask Sidekick for strategies, tips, or walkthroughs. The feature uses Gemini Live’s screen-sharing technology to understand gameplay context and deliver relevant coaching. Developed in collaboration with Google DeepMind, Sidekick aims to serve as a personal AI coach for gamers. Initially, it will be available in select titles, with more support expected in the coming months.
Enhanced game information and community features
To help players stay updated, Google is expanding Game Detail Pages with more in-depth content. These pages will now include developer updates, ongoing events, offers, and summaries of personal progress. Starting next month in select markets, players will also be able to ask and answer questions directly on detail pages, building a community-driven knowledge base where gamers can exchange strategies and insights.
A new You tab and broader Play integration
All these updates come together under the newly launched You tab, which acts as a personalized hub for each user. It combines rewards, stats, subscriptions, and tailored recommendations into one place, ensuring that players spend less time searching and more time playing. Google is also expanding Play Games on PC, now out of beta, offering access to over 200,000 titles across devices. Popular games such as Subnautica, Monster Train, and Enter the Gungeon are already available, with more like Deep Rock Galactic Survivor and DREDGE joining soon.
