At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, an Italian robotics company named Generative Bionics revealed its first humanoid robot concept, called GENE.01. The robot was introduced on one of the biggest stages of the tech event, the AMD opening keynote, giving it instant global attention. This is the first time the company has shown its humanoid design to the world, and it is being positioned as the foundation of everything they plan to build next.

GENE.01 is not a robot that people can buy and take home today. It is a concept model, a prototype that shows the direction Generative Bionics wants to take. The company says this robot is the starting point, like the first chapter of a much larger story. The name GENE comes from the idea of identity and inheritance. The company chose this word because they want future robots to evolve from this same core design, almost like a family tree of machines, where every new model carries something from the original.

During the keynote, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su invited Daniele Pucci, the CEO of Generative Bionics, to explain the vision behind the robot. Pucci said that the goal was to build a humanoid robot that does not just think like AI, but also understands the world through its body. He explained that humans do not only rely on their brain to understand the world. We feel, react, sense touch, judge distance, and even adjust posture without thinking too much about it. GENE.01 is designed with a similar idea. The robot’s body is covered in tactile skin, which means its outer surface has hundreds of small sensors that can detect touch, pressure, and small physical interactions. If someone taps the robot’s arm or it bumps into an object, it can sense it instantly. This is meant to make real-world interaction safer and smoother.

AMD is deeply involved in this project. The company is not only a technology partner but also an investor. AMD supplies the processors and hardware that power the robot’s onboard computing. This means the robot can process information from cameras, touch sensors, and body movement at the same time, helping it react quickly in real environments. Salil Raje, a senior executive at AMD, also spoke during the keynote and said that GENE.01 shows what can happen when hardware and robotics come together with AI. His message hinted at a future where robots could learn from experience instead of just following fixed commands.
