Meta has introduced a new artificial intelligence translation feature that enables creators on Facebook and Instagram to automatically dub their videos into other languages. The system uses voice cloning and lip-syncing to preserve the creator’s tone and delivery, making translations feel more natural and authentic for viewers.

At launch, the tool supports two-way translations between English and Spanish. Meta has confirmed that more languages will be added over time as the platform expands its reach. When creators publish a Reel, the feature can automatically generate a dubbed version in the selected language. Viewers will then see the video in their preferred language, with a subtle marker showing that it has been translated using Meta AI.

The tool is currently available to all Instagram users with public accounts and Facebook creators who have more than 1,000 followers. However, the rollout excludes several regions where Meta AI is not active. This includes the European Union, United Kingdom, South Korea, Brazil, Australia, Nigeria, Turkey, South Africa, and US states such as Texas and Illinois.

Using the feature is straightforward. For Facebook creators, the option appears during the Reel creation process. After recording or uploading a video, users can select “Translate your voice with Meta AI” and then choose whether to enable the lip-sync option. They can review the dubbed version before publishing, select the target language, and finalise the post. Once the translation process is complete, creators receive a notification and can review, approve, or remove the translation if needed. There is also the option to report errors if the dubbing fails to match expectations.
