After Battlefield 2042, Electronic Arts has plans for a new Battlefield game, EA’s Chairman of the Board and CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed in the Q1 2025 Electronic Arts’ Earnings Call.
The EA CEO said that players worldwide continue to be passionate about the Battlefield franchise and the Battlefield player count has crossed over 25 million over the last 12 months. He added that the next Battlefield experience is one of EA’s top priorities and one of the most ambitious projects in the company’s history.
“The community is energized by what our teams are doing and excited for what comes next. This is not just one of our top priorities, it is also one of the most ambitious projects in our history. We have brought together the very best team, coupled with the resources and technology they need to deliver an epic Battlefield experience”, the Electronic Arts CEO added.
In August 2023, the EA CEO said that the upcoming Battlefield game would be a "reimagination of Battlefield" and will “exist in a "truly connected ecosystem."
EA is working on multiple single-player and multiplayer Battlefield experiences, helmed by different EA game studios. For example, DICE is working on a Battlefield multiplayer, while Los Angeles-based Ripple Effect is developing a separate Battlefield experience which could be a free-to-play battle royale game mode. We can assume that the upcoming Battlefield projects will be connected and part of a bigger Battlefield narrative, told through various modes.
Alongside the Battlefield franchise, the US-based game developer and publisher has several well-known FPS titles like the Crysis games and Apex Legends.
EA has a globally renowned EA Sports label for sports simulators, with football simulator EA Sports FC (previously 'FIFA') being the most famous one. Then you have EA Sports Madden NFL, EA Sports F1, EA Sports W2C, EA Sports College Football, EA Sports NHL, EA Sports UFC, etc.
The EA CEO concluded by saying that the company would reveal more info about their pipeline and longer-term strategy for shareholders at their Investor Day on September 17 in New York City.
