Downdetector, the real-time outage monitoring website that millions rely on during service disruptions, itself went down on November 18 as the ongoing Cloudflare outage intensified. Several users trying to access Downdetector.in and other regional versions of the site were met with an error message instructing them to “unblock challenges.cloudflare.com,” indicating a failure in Cloudflare’s verification and routing process.

It is worth noting that the Downdetector.com was down earlier. However, Moneycontrol checked and the global version of the website appears to be working fine at the time of writing the article.

What users are seeing

Instead of the usual outage graphs, the site displayed a blank page with a red warning text. The page could not load Cloudflare’s security challenge, which typically appears when traffic is routed through Cloudflare’s protection systems. Since the challenge server was unreachable, Downdetector’s pages were unable to load for many users.
