Dolby introduces Dolby Vision 2 powered by AI: Here are all the new features
Dolby has officially unveiled the next version of Dolby Vision, named Dolby Vision 2, which includes Content Intelligence to optimise the content according to user needs. Moreover, this latest iteration of the Dolby Vision standard will allow modern TVs to produce brighter, sharper, and more colourful scenes.
Dolby Vision 2 Dolby has announced Dolby Vision 2, the next generation of its HDR picture format, which arrives more than a decade after the introduction of the original Dolby Vision format. It promises to provide a "redesigned and even more powerful image engine,” and unlocks the full potential of modern TVs, while improving the viewing experience for everyone.
Content Intelligence The headline addition of Dolby Vision 2 is Content Intelligence, a suite of AI-driven features designed to adapt picture quality dynamically. It includes Precision Black, which aims to enhance clarity in dark scenes without compromising the picture quality. Next, it has Light Sense, which adjusts picture quality by using ambient light detection with reference lighting data embedded in the content. Lastly, Sports and Gaming Optimisation brings tailored adjustments like motion control and white point tweaks for fast-moving visuals.
Dolby Vision 2 Max Dolby Vision 2 is split into two categories, with Dolby Vision 2 Max created for high-end televisions. Through these categories, Dolby wants to add extra premium functionalities for flagship models and a standard version for mainstream TVs, which will offer core Content Intelligence upgrades.
First brand to support Dolby Vision 2 Hisense is confirmed to be the first TV brand to incorporate Dolby Vision 2 into its premier TV lineups, namely the newest RGB MiniLED TVs. Moreover, Canal+, the French TV broadcaster and streaming service, will integrate Dolby Vision 2 across its movies, series, and live sports broadcasts.
