Cupertino-based tech giant Apple launched its first Apple Watch SE model in 2020, with the second iteration in 2022, which came with 1.57-inch and 1.73-inch size options. However, this could change soon, as according to a new report, Apple has started working on the Apple Watch SE 3, which will be offered in 1.6-inch and 1.8-inch display sizes, indicating screen size and design upgrades.
Apple Watch SE 3: Expected display sizes
According to a new report by analyst Ross Young, Vice President of Counterpoint Research via 9to5Mac, the upcoming Apple Watch SE 3’s displays have entered production, and it will be offered in 1.6-inch and 1.8-inch display sizes, indicating minimal changes compared to the current Apple Watch SE 2 models.
However, this new Apple Watch SE 3 could get an entirely new design with a slimmed-down chassis on these displays, that's closer to 38mm and 42mm size options. Past trends show the SE models borrow design elements from older Apple Series flagship watches. While the current SE 2’s design is similar to the Watch Series 6, the upcoming SE 3 might draw inspiration from Series 7’s 41mm and 45mm casing, or could look a lot like the Apple Watch Series 9.
Recently, a report claimed that Apple could be looking to replace the aluminium chassis of the Apple Watch SE series with a plastic frame. However, a recent report from Bloomberg analyst Mar Gurman claims that the company is finding this design change expensive and could stick to aluminium chassis with the upcoming Watch SE 3.
