iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 announced at WWDC 2025
Apple officially unveiled iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, introducing significant design changes, productivity upgrades, and deep integration of Apple Intelligence.

Liquid Glass design refresh
Both operating systems adopt the new ‘Liquid Glass’ interface, offering translucent UI layers, fluid animations, and a more immersive visual experience across the Lock Screen, Control Centre, and app icons.

Apple Intelligence features
Apple Intelligence is deeply embedded into iOS 26 and iPadOS 26. It includes AI tools for summarisation, context-based suggestions, and personal assistant features across system apps, including Notes, Safari, and Mail.

Improved multitasking on iPad
iPadOS 26 enhances productivity with resizable app windows and more flexible Stage Manager controls, making it easier to use multiple apps side-by-side on the iPad screen.'

iOS 26 supported devices
iOS 26 is compatible with iPhone models from iPhone 12 and newer. This includes iPhone SE (3rd generation), iPhone 13, 14, and the entire iPhone 15 series. Older models like iPhone 11 and below are not supported.

PadOS 26 supported iPads
iPadOS 26 supports a wide range of models including:
iPad Pro (M4, 12.9” 3rd gen and later, 11” 1st gen and later)
iPad Air (M2, 3rd gen and later)
iPad mini (A17 Pro, 5th gen and later)
iPad (A16, 8th gen and later)
The iPad 7th generation is no longer eligible.

Developer beta rollout
The developer beta for both iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 began on June 9, 2025. Registered Apple Developers can install the beta via the Settings app under Software Update > Beta Updates.

Public beta in July 2025
Apple confirmed that the public beta for iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 will roll out in July. Interested users can enroll via the Apple Beta Software Program to try new features ahead of the stable release.

Final release timeline
The stable release of iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 is expected globally in fall 2025, likely around September, coinciding with the launch of the iPhone 16 series.
