Ambrane has announced the introduction of semi-solid battery technology for power banks in India. The company said the technology is designed to improve safety, thermal stability, and energy efficiency compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries. The development is positioned as a step towards addressing performance challenges caused by high temperatures and humidity in India.
The semi-solid battery architecture is based on a partially solidified, gel-like structure. According to the company, this design helps reduce risks associated with traditional lithium-ion batteries, including overheating, leakage, swelling, and fire hazards.
Ambrane claims the new technology can deliver up to 1.5x higher energy efficiency within the same form factor. It can also enable higher energy capacity or allow manufacturers to design more compact power banks without compromising performance.
The company added that the batteries are engineered to maintain consistent output across varying environmental conditions, which is relevant for Indian usage scenarios.
EV link and safety focus
The technology has previously been used in the electric mobility sector, where it is known for its non-flammable properties and operational stability. By adapting it for consumer electronics, Ambrane aims to bring similar safety standards to everyday charging devices.
The company said the move aligns with its focus on offering safer and more reliable products for daily use.
Ashok Rajpal, Managing Director of Ambrane, said the introduction of semi-solid battery technology reflects the company’s focus on improving reliability and safety in consumer devices. He added that the company plans to expand the use of this technology across its upcoming product lineup.
Ambrane is also exploring partnerships to extend the adoption of semi-solid battery technology across the broader consumer electronics industry.
