Amazon Great Indian Festival 2025 records 38 crore customer visits in first two days

Amazon India’s Great Indian Festival 2025 has recorded its biggest-ever opening, attracting over 38 crore customer visits in just 48 hours. The sale, which opened on September 22 for Prime members and September 23 for all shoppers, saw participation from across metros and smaller towns, with over 70% of customers coming from beyond the top nine cities.

Record growth for sellers
More than 16,000 small and medium businesses tripled sales during the opening days, with two-thirds of sellers hailing from tier 2 and 3 cities such as Ajmer, Udupi, Rajkot, and Howrah. Local shops also achieved record growth, with the highest-ever number crossing the Rs 10 lakh milestone. Popular categories included home, kitchen, toys, apparel, and festive décor.

Customer savings and Amazon Pay
Shoppers saved more than Rs 260 crore using SBI debit and credit cards, alongside attractive EMI offers. Amazon Pay adoption grew, with one in four customers using it to transact. International flight bookings through Amazon Pay rose 45% year-on-year, while UPI payments increased 18%. One in nine purchases was made using the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card.

GST benefit initiative
The #GSTBachatUtsav storefront passed on GST benefits worth crores across appliances, fashion, and essentials. Customers also turned to eco-friendly appliances, inverter batteries, and groceries benefiting from reduced GST. High-protein foods and D2C wellness products saw a sharp uptick, while baby essentials and skincare categories also expanded.

Premium product demand
Indian customers demonstrated rising interest in premium categories. Smartphones priced above Rs 20,000 surged 50% year-on-year, while premium TVs, laptops, home theatre systems, and air conditioners all recorded strong growth. Luxury items such as lab-grown diamonds, Korean beauty products, and premium luggage also witnessed sharp increases, driven largely by tier 2 and 3 shoppers.

Faster deliveries and Prime member benefits
Amazon reported its fastest-ever deliveries this season, with lakhs of products reaching customers within hours. Over 80 lakh products were delivered to Prime members in two days, including 30 lakh same-day or next-day deliveries in metros. In tier 2 and 3 cities, more than 50 lakh products reached customers within two days.
