Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will officially go offline on April 17, 2026, Activision has announced. The game’s servers will be shut down on that date, though existing players will be able to continue playing until then.
The shutdown has been a long time coming. In May 2025, Activision revealed that Warzone Mobile would be delisted from app stores and would no longer receive new seasonal content or updates. Since then, the title has effectively been in maintenance mode, with no roadmap for future development.
Warzone Mobile launched as a direct mobile adaptation of the franchise’s popular battle royale mode, aiming to replicate the large-scale maps, cross-progression systems, and gunplay that defined Warzone on console and PC. However, performance issues, high device requirements, and stiff competition in the mobile shooter space made sustained growth difficult.
For players who still want a Call of Duty experience on their phones, Activision is steering them toward Call of Duty: Mobile. The long-running mobile title continues to receive updates and includes its own battle royale mode, offering a familiar alternative even as Warzone Mobile sunsets.
“Player passion and feedback continue to shape the future of the Call of Duty franchise, and we look forward to delivering meaningful seasonal content and updates to Call of Duty: Mobile,” Activision said in its announcement confirming Warzone Mobile’s shutdown.
Importantly, the end of Warzone Mobile does not affect the core Warzone experience. Call of Duty: Warzone remains free to play on major platforms including Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, and Battle.net.
The decision highlights how challenging it remains to translate large-scale console shooters to mobile in a way that satisfies both hardcore fans and casual players. While Warzone Mobile showed technical ambition, it ultimately struggled to find a sustainable footing in an already crowded mobile gaming market.
With its closure now scheduled, Activision appears focused on consolidating its mobile efforts around Call of Duty: Mobile, rather than splitting attention across multiple overlapping experiences.
