The week may have seen plenty of stories unfold but one that broke the internet was the India's Got Latent controversy involving popular podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia and stand-up comedian Samay Raina. Allahbadia, who was one of the judges in the web show, made remarks about parents and sex, which triggered massive backlash from all directions.

The comments, which has been called out by many as distasteful, also led multiple complaints against the duo across the country. The controversy even reached the halls of Parliament as a parliamentary panel on communications and information technology has asked the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to submit a detailed note on the same by February 17.

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis reacting on the controversy noted "things have been said and presented in a wrong way." The chief minister added: “everyone has freedom of speech, but our freedom ends when we encroach upon the freedom of others. In our society, we have made some rules, if someone violates them, it is absolutely wrong, and action should be taken against them.”

Meanwhile, ex-National Commission for Women (NCW) chief and Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma expressed her shock and said: "I think whether it is a female or a male, this kind of joke is never accepted by society. Making jokes about a mother or a female's body doesn't look good and somewhere it shows how today's youth has stooped down to such a level morally.”
