Shubman Gill produced a remarkable display both as a batter and a captain. The 25-year-old led from front at Edgbaston and powered India to their first win in Tests at the venue. It was also his first win as the captain and going forward, he would look to continue the stellar show.

Remarking on Gill's magnificent show in England, ex-India captain and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said: "This is the best I've seen him bat and I'm not surprised.” Ganguly made the remarks while speaking to reporters at Eden Gardens on Tuesday.

If we talk about numbers and records, Gill is leading the batting charts. He has mustered 585 runs from four innings at a stunning average of 146.25. This features three centuries, including the highest score of 269, which he achieved in the previous Test. The effort by Gill has seen him break multiple records and dethrone batting legends Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, and Virat Kohli.

Such has been his dominance that even legendary Don Bradman's number don't look safe anymore. However, Ganguly after lavishing praise also warned Gill of what's coming next. “He has just become captain, it's a honeymoon period. But there would be more pressure with time. The pressure will build in the next three Tests,” he said.
