Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar praised the "passion and commitment" of Anant Ambani, director on the boards of RIL and Reliance Foundation, for his unwavering support towards wildlife conservation. The Vantara animal rescue and rehabilitation centre - a wildlife preservation project founded by Anant - was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Jamnagar, Gujarat on Sunday.
Reacting to a post shared by the Prime Minister, Tendulkar on X wrote: "I felt the same as Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji, when I was in Vantara earlier. The passion and commitment of Anant and his team towards wildlife conservation, is commendable. The rescued and rehabilitated animals at Vantara touch you in a unique way and I look forward to visiting this beautiful place again."
The rehabilitation centre is spread across 3,500 acres and focuses on creating best-in-class animal conservation and care practices, including state-of-the-art healthcare, hospitals, research and academic centres. It also collaborates with with reputed international universities and organisations such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF). Vantara is home to more than 2,000 species and over 1.5 lakh rescued, endangered, and threatened animals.
PM Modi during his visit spent time feeding and playing with various species including Asiatic Lion cubs and White Lion cubs. He also visited the wildlife hospital, which is equipped with world class facilities such as MRI, CT scans, and ICUs among others. In addition, the hospital also houses multiple departments including Wildlife Anesthesia, Cardiology, Nephrology, Endoscopy, Dentistry, Internal Medicine etc.
PM Modi also sat face to face with a Golden Tiger, four snow tigers who were brothers and were rescued from a circus where they were made to perform tricks.
