Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan ended the suspense over MS Dhoni's participation in IPL 2026. Viswanathan confirmed the development to Cricbuzz. "MS has told us that he will be available for the next season," Viswanathan was quoted as saying in a report.
Like Dhoni, Viswanathan too has been associated with the franchise since the inception of the cash-rich league in 2008. In addition, he shares strong relation with N Srinivasan, the franchise owner.
There have been suspense around Dhoni's future in the league as he is currently 44. However, the development should put an end to any speculation around the subject at least till the next edition.
CSK had finished last in the previous edition as Dhoni was back at the helm of things after injury ruled out Ruturaj Gaikwad midway during the season.
Dhoni has represented CSK for 16 years, barring the two years when the franchise were serving a suspension. In that period, Dhoni represented the franchise in 248 matches and amassed 4,865 runs. He also led the team to five IPL titles - 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023 - which is the joint-highest alongside Mumbai Indians.
In addition to this, the report claimed that trade talks involving Sanju Samson has reignited. The development comes as Dhoni is actively involved in planning for the next season. He along with Viswanathan, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, and coach Stephen Fleming are expected hold consultations ahead of the November 15 deadline to submit player retentions.
It further stated that a meeting among them is likely to take place on November 10 and 11, during which final calls will be taken. By that time the management will also have more clarity about Samson's status.

As reported, the talks between CSK and Rajasthan Royals have re-established over Samson and it shouldn't come as a surprise if a top CSK player is also part of the bargain.
Meanwhile, Royals owner Manoj Badale is reported to have opened communications regarding the trade with other franchises, including Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Delhi Capitals, apart from CSK.
It also mentioned that the concerned CSK player, who has been lined up as part of the deal, has been communicated about the franchise's desire and checked if he is on board with a potential move to the Royals.
