After registering two consecutive ducks in the opening two ODIs of the three-match series against Australia, star Indian batsman Virat Kohli's comeback to international cricket became a nightmare. After seven months apart, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both returned to the Indian squad. Kohli was out for ducks in both games, but Rohit made amends with a 73-run effort in the second game. After losing the first two matches in the ODI series, India lost the series too. The third and final ODI is set for this Saturday in Sydney.
In spite of his lack of batting contribution, Kohli was instrumental in the dismissal of the dangerous Travis Head in the second ODI. Head was batting at 28 when he was removed by pacer Harshit Rana during the 265-run chase.
A video that went popular on social media showed Kohli chatting with Head just before he was dismissed. Kohli put his arm around Head's shoulder and spoke to him briefly.

Head appeared to be affected by Kohli's remarks because a few seconds later, the Australia batsman mistimes a shot that went high in the air off Rana's delivery and the ball flew straight up in the air and landed securely in Kohli's hands at mid-off.
Australia's pursuit, however, was unaffected by Head's departure as they reached the target in 46.2 overs with two wickets in hand. Cooper Connolly stayed unbeaten at 61, while Matthew Short scored 74.

Australia will now aim for a clean sweep on Saturday after taking an unassailable 2-0 lead over India. India and Australia will play a five-match T20I series after the ODIs.
