Middlesex batter Luke Hollman played a never seen shot on Wednesday that quickly went viral on social media. Hollman initially tried to scoop the ball bowled by Surrey skipper Sam Curran, who anticipating the move dropped his speed. However, the change of ploy didn't prevent the Middlesex all-rounder from scoring a boundary. Hollman read the pace behind the ball and perfectly and midway changed his stance to slap it behind the wickets, which resulted in a one bounce four.
The official Middlesex Cricket account shared the video of the shot and wrote: “You cannot do that, Luke Hollman”.
Fans on social media too were raving about the shot, struggling to decide what it should even be called. One user termed it as “Lagaan shot.”
Another recalled the character of “Ghuran From #Lagaan” who was shown batting like this in the popular Bollywood movie.
Despite Hollman's valiant efforts, Middlesex lost the game by eight runs. Surrey scored 189 for 9 batting first, thanks to a late surge from Tom Curran (47), and a magnificent half-century from opener Will Jacks (52).
Hollman (2/34), who took the vital wickets of Will Jacks and Jason Roy, provided Middlesex with good support as Ryan Higgins (4/33) claimed four wickets.

Middlesex in response managed 181 for 6. Stephen Eskinazi, the opener, led Middlesex in scoring with 53. Middlesex failed despite cameos down the order from Hollman (32 not out), Higgins (29), and skipper Leus du Plooy (29).
Chris Jordan (2/28) was the standout performer with the ball for Surrey.
