Sanjiv Goenka, the chairman of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group and the owner of the Lucknow Super Giants IPL club, went to Tirupati Tirumala shrine with his family to worship. With millions of worshipers each year, the temple honoring Lord Venkateswara—who is regarded as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu—is one of the most popular religious destinations in India.

Sanjiv Goenka and his family paid a visit to the temple one day before the Indian Premier League season officially began. Because of tensions between India and Pakistan, the IPL was halted for a week.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which oversees the temple, said in a statement that Sanjiv Goenka of Kolkata sent the god golden Kati and Varada Hasthams, or sacred hand ornaments, that are adorned with diamonds and gemstones. The extravagant tribute, which weighs about 5.2 kg, demonstrates the temple's longstanding custom of making valuable offerings.

“A magnificent golden offering was presented to Sri Venkateswara Swamy at Tirumala on Friday. Sanjiv Goenka from Kolkata donated a golden Kati and Varada Hasthams, weighing around 5.2 kilograms and worth Rs.3.63 crore,” the TTD release read.

In accordance with ceremonial custom, the ornaments were formally presented to TTD Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary in the Ranganayakula Mandapam within the temple complex.
