Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made a historic deal at the IPL mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia earlier this week. The team splurged Rs 27 crore to acquire Rishabh Pant, making him the most expensive player in the history of the competition. Pant on expected lines triggered a bidding war at the auction and to everyone's surprise Delhi Capitals even pulled out the RTM card for the southpaw when LSG finalised the deal at Rs 20.50 crore. LSG, however, made a whooping Rs 27 crore final bid for Pant, leaving Delhi Capitals with no choice but to back out.

Meanwhile, LSG's ex-skipper KL Rahul failed to attract as much interest as Pant or Shreyas Iyer at the auction and pocketed Rs 14 crore with Delhi Capitals making the final bid. Interestingly, Rahul and Pant led LSG and Delhi Capitals respectively until the previous season, and in all likelihood will now be seen leading their new franchises at the upcoming edition, which starts from March 14 next year.

Soon after the deal was done social media was flooded with memes, but the one that caught most eyes was a post referring Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of LSG, as a "toxic boss". The meme was directed towards Goenka's on-air outburst against Rahul after LSG's tie against Sunrisers Hyderabad last season, which the latter won by 10 wickets. Goenka then engaged in an animated chat with Rahul, who stood quietly and listened. The moment was caught on camera and didn't take long to explode on social media.

Goenka was asked about the meme in an interview with Times Now. Although the LSG owner was not aware about any such content but he still chose to weigh-in on the subject.
