Kuldeep Yadav finds himself in hot water and could possibly be under be the threat of stern action by the BCCI as videos of him slapping Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Rinku Singh went viral on social media. The moment took place during the IPL encounter between Delhi Capitals (DC) and KKR at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Defending champions Kolkata won the match by 14 runs to remain alive in the race for playoffs, while DC, who have been hit with a fresh slump, endured consecutive losses. The exchange between the two players, who hail from the same state (UP) but represent different IPL franchises, took place after the contest was done and dusted.
In the video, which has gone viral on social media, the duo can be seen casually talking before Kuldeep caught Rinku off guard with a slap. The spinner then repeated the act and while Rinku didn't react, his facial expressions indicated some displeasure.
In fact, many on social media also called out the Delhi Capitals spinner for his "unacceptable act". Here are a few reactions:
Considering the recent punishment handed to LSG spinner Digvesh Rathi by the BCCI for his harmless "notebook celebration", it is highly unlikely that Kuldeep can escape the wrath without anyone taking note of it.
Meanwhile, this isn't the first time when a player has been slapped in the IPL. In the inaugural edition of the tournament, Harbhajan Singh failed to control his emotions and ended up slapping S Sreesanth right after a match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). The spinner was then handed a ban for the remainder of the tournament.
